Talkcircle is a contemporary mental health company that sought to transform the way people handle therapy access using safe, convenient telemedicine solutions. By having licensed therapists online, the idea was to offer mental health assistance which is confidential, discreet and can be done anywhere. Since its conception, Techling has collaborated with Talkcircle to architecture and develop a HIPAA-compliant scalable platform specifically targeting the mental health industry.
Among the primary challenges that Talkcircle faced during the development of its teletherapy platform, there were the following ones:
Patients in rural or underserved regions had a hard time accessing licensed mental health workers because of distance, access, or time limitations.
Mental healthcare requires total privacy. It was necessary to adhere to HIPAA rules to protect the content of sessions and information about clients.
Remote therapy visits require a reliable communication device and an interface that is easy to mirror the trust and closeness of in-person treatment. These fundamental challenges were what Techling was able to address through engineering a platform built on secure communications, natural interactions, and rigorous compliance-- allowing accessible and trusted mentality.
The platform uses WebSocket and Twilio to provide smooth, real-time communication- making sure that video and text-based therapy sessions between clients and therapists are secured.
A user-friendly scheduling program was implemented, which allowed users to simply make reservations. No-shows are reduced to a minimum with automated email and in-app reminders, and therapist-client coordination is enhanced.
Therapists are now capable of sharing exercises, notes, and documents in and out of the sessions safely. This would foster cooperation and enable clients to remain part of their improvement.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) was chosen due to its scaling and compliance services, which provide safe data storage, taking into account the regulatory requirements and keeping the information of the users completely safe.
